Congress Field Tour
An optional (post-) congress bus tour will start in the early morning of August 3 and visit various habitats, such as large lakes, ponds, dune ponds, swamps, rivers, streams, and paddy fields in Yamanashi, Nagano and Shizuoka prefectures, central Japan. The participants can leave the tour in Hamamatsu Station (Shinkansen-line: for Tokyo or Osaka about 1.5 hours) in the afternoon on August 6, and coming back to Odawara on evening of August 6.

The participants have chances to encounter the following Far East dragonfly genera/species: i.e.,
  1. Lestes japonicus
  2. Calopteryx cornelia
  3. Sieboldius albardae
  4. Stylurus oculatus
  5. Sinogomphus flavolimbatus
  6. Anotogaster sieboldii
  7. Aeschnophlebia longistigma
  8. Anaciaeschna martini
  9. Aeshna nigloflava
  10. Epophthalmia elegans
  11. Somatochlora uchidai
  12. Deielia phaon
  13. Sympetrum kunckeli
  14. Sympetrum pedemontanum elatum
  15. Sympetrum speciosum speciosum
  16. Pseudothemis zonata
  17. Rhyothemis fuliginosa
    etc.
The participants will also be able to see the state of a conservational project of Libellula angelina (a critically endangered sp.) using a lot of containers together with several other sight-seeing of Japanese traditional culture (Shrines, temples, barrier stations).
We recommend you to perform pre-registration. The cost of this three-days tour will be around 57,000 JP Yen, including transportation (bus), hotels and meals. But it is still on a negotiating process as it varies with the number of participants and other conditions. The fee will be fixed before the launch of formal registration.
