Driving in Japan
*You can easily drive rental cars if you carry with you your driving license and an international driving permit (based on the Convention Relative to Road Traffic signed at Geneva in 1949) issued in your country before you leave your country for Japan. In the case of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Taiwan nationals an official translation of your home country's driver's license is required instead of international driving permit.
